Founder of TeachingBD24.com
Md. Shah Jamal was a respected teacher, passionate learner, and a lifelong contributor to education in Bangladesh. For more than three decades, he served as a Physics teacher and Assistant Professor at BAF Shaheen College, Dhaka, dedicating his life to helping students understand science and build strong intellectual foundations.
He was born to Md. Mohatab Uddin Mondal and Fatema Begum, and from an early age he developed a deep curiosity about knowledge and learning. That curiosity eventually led him toward physics – a subject that explores the laws of nature and encourages logical thinking.

Teaching soon became not only his profession but also his lifelong mission.
A Life Dedicated to Teaching
Md. Shah Jamal joined the teaching profession in February 1985, beginning a long journey that would span more than three decades of service. Throughout his career at BAF Shaheen College, he became known as a teacher who could explain difficult concepts with clarity and patience.
Physics is often perceived as one of the most challenging subjects for students. Yet his teaching approach focused on simplifying complex ideas and helping students understand the logic behind them.
Generations of students benefited from his dedication and discipline. Many remember him as a teacher who was deeply committed to the success of his students and who believed that education was the most powerful tool for personal and national development.
According to official records, he served the education sector for over 34 years, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge and inspiration.
A Teacher Who Loved Technology

What made Md. Shah Jamal unique was his ability to adapt to changing times. Even when technology was not widely available, he was eager to learn and experiment with new tools.
His younger son recalls that during a time when computers were rare in many households, he quickly learned to use them and began digitizing his teaching materials. He typed his physics lecture notes himself and used computer software like Excel to manage academic tasks and prepare class schedules.
His curiosity for technology continued throughout his life. Later, he even learned WordPress and independently managed the educational website TeachingBD24.com for many years, publishing hundreds of educational posts and resources for students.
This ability to adapt to new technologies—even later in life—was one of his most remarkable traits.
Love for Music and Culture
Beyond academics, Md. Shah Jamal had a deep love for music. According to family memories, he maintained a large collection of music recordings and enjoyed listening to songs from various artists including Hemanta Mukherjee, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Bhupen Hazarika, Lata Mangeshkar, and others.
In the 1990s, he built a personal music collection of hundreds of cassette tapes. Later, as technology evolved, he converted many of those collections into digital format on his computer and organized them carefully.
Music was an important part of family life. Many songs that his children first heard during childhood were played from his carefully curated music collection.
This love for music reflected another dimension of his personality—someone who appreciated art, culture, and emotional expression alongside scientific knowledge.
The Vision Behind TeachingBD24.com
After decades of classroom teaching, Md. Shah Jamal realized that many Bengali-medium students struggled to find clear and accessible study materials.
To help address this gap, he created TeachingBD24.com, an educational website designed to provide:
- Educational notes
- Exam suggestions
- Question patterns
- Physics learning materials
- Academic support for school and college students
Through this initiative, he extended his classroom beyond physical walls and into the digital world.
The platform aimed to support students and teachers across Bangladesh and abroad, particularly those studying in Bengali medium institutions.
Family Life

Md. Shah Jamal was not only a teacher but also a devoted father.
He was blessed with three children, each of whom pursued their own professional path while carrying forward the values of education and discipline that he instilled in them.
- Rumana Sharmin Sumi – The eldest daughter, who works as a Biology teacher at SEMS.
- Dr. Toufiq Hassan Shawon – His second child, currently serving in government service as a doctor.
- Saif Hassan – The youngest son, a technology professional and product manager, who has worked with organizations such as weDevs, Poptin, and Premio and currently works with Awesome Motive, focusing on building digital products and user-centered technologies.
Each of his children represents a different field—education, healthcare, and technology—reflecting the broad influence of his encouragement toward learning and professional excellence.
Adaptability and Lifelong Learning
Perhaps one of the most defining characteristics of Md. Shah Jamal was his adaptability.
From cassette players to computers, from handwritten notes to digital archives, and from classroom teaching to online education platforms—he continuously embraced change and learning.
His younger son described him as someone who was “ahead of his time” in adopting technology and learning new skills regardless of age.
This mindset made him not just a teacher, but a lifelong learner.
