Eid shopping of the Caliph of the Muslim world Hazrat Umar (R)!
On the eve of Eid, the wife of Caliph Umar (R) said to her husband, “It will work even if we don’t have new clothes for Eid, but the little baby is crying for new clothes for Eid.”
The ruler of the Arab world, Caliph Umar, said, “I cannot afford to buy new clothes.”
Later, Caliph Umar sent a letter to his finance minister, Abu Ubaidah, asking for a month’s salary.
The caliph of the entire Muslim world, who was ruling almost half of the world at that time, received such a letter from Abu Ubaida. Ummah Amin Abu Ubaida (R) wrote in reply to the letter without giving money to the bearer, ‘Amirul Muminin! You will have to decide on two issues for advance salary allocation.
First, will you survive until next month?
Second, if you survive, will the people of the country keep you in charge of the caliphate for that period? ‘
After reading the letter, Caliph Umar did not reply to any of them but wept so much that his beard got wet with tears. And he raised his hand and prayed for Abu Ubaidar (RA) thinking that he could elect a worthy finance minister.
