The quantity which is completely described by its magnitude with a unit is a scalar quantity. Each of length, mass, speed, temperature etc. is a scalar quantity. The quantity which for its complete description requires magnitude as well as direction is a vector quantity. Each of displacement, velocity, acceleration, weight, force etc. is a vector quantity.
